LATE LAST NIGHT BOOKS HAS A NEW LOOK
8/29/14 — IN ANTICIPATION OF ITS SECOND YEAR, AND IN ANTICIPATION OF ITS FIRST TRIP TO THE BALTIMORE BOOK FESTIVAL, SEPTEMBER 26-28, LATE LAST NIGHT BOOKS HAS A NEW LOOK AND WELCOMES NOVELISTS GARY CRAIG POWELL AND MICHAEL J. TUCKER AS NEW MONTHLY COLUMNISTS.
We bid farewell to columnists Jill Morrow and M.L. Doyle. We look forward to seeing Jill and Mary here as future interviewees when we review their novels.
Garry Craig Powell will begin writing for Late Last Night Books on September 26. Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Central Arkansas, Garry was educated at the universities of Cambridge, Durham, and Arizona. Living in the Persian Gulf and teaching on the women’s campus of the National University of the United Arab Emirates inspired him to write his novel-in-stories, Stoning the Devil (Skylight Press, 2012), set in Dubai and surroundings. His short fiction has appeared in Best American Mystery Stories 2009, McSweeney’s, Nimrod, New Orleans Review, and other literary magazines. He has been awarded fellowships by the Arkansas Arts Council and the Writers Colony at Dairy Hollow.
Michael J. Tucker will begin writing for Late Last Night Books on October 13. Mike is a member of International Thriller Writers and the Mystery Writers of America, and the author of the short story collection, The New Neighbor – and Other Stories; Your Voice Spoke to My Ear, a collection of poems; and the novels Aquarius Falling, which was a 2012 nominee for the Silver Falchion Award, and Capricorn’s Collapse, a second novel featuring protagonist Tom Delaney. Tucker is a contributor to the anthology, Filtered Through Time, and also writes book and movie reviews and interviews for his blog at his website: www.michaeltuckerauthor.com
Gary Garth McCann
First-prize winner for short works and for suspense/mystery, Maryland Writers’ Association, Gary Garth McCann is the author of the novella Young and in Love? and of the novels The Shape of the Earth and The Man Who Asked To Be Killed, praised at the Washington Independent Review of Books. His most recent published stories are available online in Chelsea Station Magazine, Erotic Review Magazine, and in Mobius: The Journal of Social Change.
